Jorge Almeida, MD, PhD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and the Director of UT Medicine's Bipolar Disorder Center. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder. Additionally, Dr. Almeida is an associate professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Almeida earned his medical degree from Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in Santo André, Brazil and his doctorate in neuroscience from the Universidade de São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil. He completed a residency in psychiatry at Brown University and a fellowship in clinical and translational affective neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Almeida seamlessly combines extensive clinical experience with a strong academic background to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to his patients' needs. His neuroimaging research focuses on using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate biomarkers of mood disorders, particularly bipolar disorder, by combining standard neuroimaging data analysis with effective connectivity and pattern recognition techniques.

Rachel E. Mis, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist in UT Medicine's Comprehensive Memory Center. She specializes in the clinical neuropsychological assessment of adults with a broad range of neurologic conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, movement disorders, and multiple sclerosis. Additionally, Dr. Mis is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Mis earned her master's degree in psychology and her doctorate in both psychology and neuroscience from Temple University. She completed an internship in clinical psychology with a geriatric psychology/neuropsychology track at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and a fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Dell Medical School.

Dr. Mis conducts research on how digital technology affects everyday functioning in aging and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Her work aims to improve clinical assessment and help older adults maintain independence in daily activities. Her research has been supported by the National Institute on Aging and other national and local organizations, and she regularly presents at regional, national, and international conferences. She is a member of the Alzheimer’s Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment, the American Psychological Association’s Division 40, and the International Neuropsychological Society.

Duriel Hardy, MD, is a pediatric neuroimmunologist in UT Medicine Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s, a clinical partnership between Dell Children's Medical Center and UT Medicine, and an adult neurologist in the UT Medicine Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Center. He specializes in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology and related inflammatory disorders. At Dell Children's, he also serves as a pediatric neurologist and pediatric neuroimmunologist. Additionally, Dr. Hardy is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Hardy earned his bachelor's degree in neuroscience from Brown University and his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He also completed the University of Michigan’s Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP). He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric neurology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, followed by a second fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology disorders at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hardy's clinical interests include pediatric demyelinating disorders, including multiple sclerosis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disorders and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). His research interests include multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology, with collaborative projects focused on MOG antibody-associated disorders diagnosed in children. He believes in a multifaceted continuum of care in which patient care is coordinated among care team members across cohesive clinical practices to bridge gaps in care and ensure a seamless transition from pediatric to adult care.

Charles B. Nemeroff, MD, PhD, is a board-certified psychiatrist in UT Medicine's Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences. He specializes in diagnosis of complex patients and in management of treatment-resistant depression and anxiety disorders. Additionally, Dr. Nemeroff is a professor and serves as the Matthew P. Nemeroff Endowed Chair for the Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. He also serves as the Director for the Dell Medical School Institute for Early Life Adversity Research and Co-Director for the Dell Medical School Center for Psychedelic Research and Therapy.

Dr. Nemeroff earned both his medical degree and doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He also completed a residency in psychiatry at both the University of North Carolina and Duke University, where he later held faculty positions.

Dr. Nemeroff formerly served as the Chair of the Departments of Psychiatry at Emory University and the University of Miami. He is a past President of the American College of Psychiatrists, the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He is the President-elect of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. He also served on the Mental Health Advisory Council for the National Institute of Mental Health and currently serves on the scientific council of the Brain and Behavioral Research Foundation. His research interests include the pathophysiology of mood and anxiety disorders, specifically focusing on the role of child abuse and neglect as a major risk factor. He has also conducted research on the role of mood disorders as a risk factor for major medical disorders, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Sofia Silvestri, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant in UT Medicine’s Musculoskeletal Institute. She specializes in sports medicine and conditions affecting the lower extremities.

Sofia Silvestri earned her bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience from the University of San Diego and her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Lipscomb University.

Sofia Silvestri is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Corinne Jones, PhD, CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist in the UT Medicine Pharyngeal High-Resolution Manometry program. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders (dysphagia), particularly those associated with neurologic disease. Additionally, Dr. Jones is an assistant professor in both the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology and the Moody College of Communication Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Jones earned her bachelor’s degree in linguistics from Boston University and her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she investigated changes to swallowing function in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. She also earned a dual doctorate degree in neuroscience and communication sciences and disorders from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She completed a clinical fellowship in the evaluation and treatment of dysphagia at the Voice and Swallowing Clinic at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. She is also a registered Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) clinician and is certified in McNeill Dysphagia Therapy.

Dr. Jones is an internationally recognized expert in the use of pharyngeal high-resolution manometry, a technique used to measure pressures generated by the pharyngeal muscles in the throat during swallowing. She runs the Swallowing Modulation Lab, where her research aims to improve understanding of motor control of swallowing and how that control changes in neurological development and disorders, expand insight into swallowing physiology through objective assessment techniques, and explore novel therapeutic methods to slow the progression and minimize the negative consequences of dysphagia in neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.

David Paydarfar, MD, is a board-certified neurologist and the Director of UT Medicine’s Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences. He is also a part of the Pharyngeal High-Resolution Manometry care team. In his role, he is responsible for establishing the initial infrastructure to support premier subspecialty programs in clinical neuroscience, working closely with the chairs of psychiatry, neurosurgery, and others committed to these important ventures. Additionally, Dr. Paydarfar is a professor and serves as the Chair for the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Paydarfar earned his bachelor's degree in physics, graduating summa cum laude, from Duke University and his medical degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed a residency in neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and a residency in physiology at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Paydarfar previously served as Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and as an associate faculty member of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. He is also a fellow of the American Neurological Association and serves as an investigator for the Clayton Foundation for Research. His current research focuses on developing novel biosensors, signal-processing algorithms, and user interfaces that enable clinicians and researchers to track and predict the health of individual patients as well as entire populations. This approach allows doctors to forecast and advert adverse disease trajectories while also testing the impact of these strategies on health outcomes.

Karl Chiang, PhD, is a board-certified psychologist in UT Medicine's Trauma Recovery and Research Center. He specializes in working collaboratively with patients to cope with a life-changing illness, examining stress that could impact the quality of life, and addressing health disparities.

Dr. Chiang earned both his master's and doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Denver. He completed a residency in health psychology at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center, a fellowship in psychosocial oncology at Washington University School of Medicine, and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Brown University.

Dr. Chiang has published numerous articles in addition to conducting research and teaching. He is a member of the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers and the Society for Health Psychology.

Jared F. Benge, PhD, ABPP, is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist in UT Medicine's Comprehensive Memory Center. He specializes in the assessment of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, dementia, and cognitive impairment in movement disorders. Additionally, Dr. Benge is an associate professor for the Dell Medical School Department of Neurology at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Benge earned his doctorate in clinical psychology with a major area of study in neuropsychology from the University of Houston. He completed both an internship in clinical psychology and a fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Dr. Benge has authored 60 publications and presented at numerous national and international conferences. His research focuses on technology in cognitive impairment, early detection of cognitive decline, and understanding real-world functioning in older adults. His work has been supported by the National Institute of Aging, Parkinson's Foundation, and Alzheimer's Association. He is also a clinical educator, who teaches clinical skills and mentors research in students across a variety of disciplines.

Audrey Addaquay-Corey, PMHNP, is a licensed psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner in the UT Medicine Adult Psychiatry Clinic. She specializes in general psychiatric and mental health wellness.

Audrey Addaquay-Corey received her associate's degree in nursing from Delaware Technical and Community College. She went on to earn her both a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Additionally, she is a member of the Neuroscience Education Institute and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Association of Ghanaian Advanced Practice Nurses Abroad.
