About This Subspecialty

The Trauma Recovery and Research Center, a subspecialty within the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences, diagnoses, treats and manages trauma-related disorders in adult patients (18 years and older), including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, acute stress disorder and trauma from childhood sexual abuse, physical assault, military and combat service, medical events, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters and first responder duties. We also support patients who are experiencing trauma symptoms, even if they do not have a formal diagnosis.

Our team provides comprehensive care using evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTi), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and prolonged exposure therapy (PE). We are dedicated to helping you reduce trauma symptoms, improve emotional well-being and regain function in daily life.

Our Treatment Approach

At UT Medicine, we take an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to your care. This means you will benefit from the expertise of multiple specialists across a variety of disciplines caring for you in one place — avoiding the need to schedule multiple appointments with providers at locations all over the city.

UT Medicine is anchored by Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, where we collaborate with colleagues to apply leading-edge research, diagnostic and treatment techniques to the diagnosis and treatment of your condition. Advanced imaging and lab testing are also available on-site if needed.
